How is Jesus Good News?

IMG_3439In this week’s sermon, Bob talks about what Jesus means to each of us, and how different cultures express what Jesus means to them.

He also introduces us to Hezekiah Walker’s new video “Every Praise” where we see people dancing in the streets signing the lords praise.  Click on the image below or go to Bob’s Facebook page to see this wonderful and uplifting music video.

Jesus is the answer – but what’s the question?

IMG_3431This week Bob talks about how lost we are: “lost like sheep without a shepherd”.  Jesus saw the lost people and it filled his heart with compassion.  We as his disciples are asked to have compassion, and to go out into the world and guide those who are lonely and lost.  From Mathew 9:

36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask (petition in prayer) the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers (us) into his harvest field.”

None to Perish, But Why Repentance?

2017-01-15_BOBK_Sermon_Photo In this week’s sermon, Bob Kolodner explores the concept of repentance.

What is repentance?  It is sacrifice, giving up certain things?  No – repentance is so much more than that and in this podcast you can learn much about what real repentance is.  Calling on many examples of scripture including Acts, Mark and Luke, Bob walks us through the different attitudes and approaches to repentance.

WCOC Offers Financial Peace University (FPU)

We are proud and blessed to announce that starting Sunday March 19th, 2017 at 2:30 pm, Warrenton Church of Christ is hosting the opportunity for members of the community to attend Financial Peace University: a 9 week course that teaches us how to take control of our finances, get out of debt and build wealth for retirement through saving and investing strategies.

Created by best-selling Christian author and radio show host Dave Ramsey (left), FPU has a proven and tested track record for helping families regain control of their finances using bible-based principles.  Over 4 million people have already attended FPU nationwide.

On average, families who attend pay off $5,300 in debt and save $2,700 in the first 90 days after starting the course.

This course is no gimmick either: no special secrets, just common sense steps that your Grandmother probably told you about.

This course will be hosted by our very own Neil Smith, who along with his wife Crystal, has been living the principles of Financial Peace for the last 3+ years.

“The information we have learned from Dave Ramsey has allowed us to get out of debt, save for the future, start investing and increased our ability to give more generously.  We can tell you first hand that when you start living how God wants you to, good things start to happen.  We are both very excited to offer this course and to share this invaluable information with our church family and our community at large.”

If you’re interested in attending this course, or know someone who might benefit from a financial makeover, please go to the Financial Peace University link on this church web site home page, or click here to go to Dave Ramsey’s web site and sign up.  It costs $93 per family, or if you can’t attend FPU with a group, there’s an online option for $129.

To learn more we also recommend you subscribe to the Dave Ramsey Show podcast and listen to his daily radio broadcasts.  There you will here from people who have achieved amazing things and become debt free using the principles Dave teaches.

There will be a preview of the course about three weeks before the class actually starts.  We’ll post more details and announce this at the church when the preview date is set.
