Announcement

Sermon Podcasts now on Google Play

As the WCoC Sermon Podcast gains momentum both here at home, and on the international stage, we are proud to announce that over this past week, our application for a Google Play podcast channel has been approved.

This is great news because it now potentially doubles our reach to the world and allows a much larger audience the option to subscribe to the sermon podcasts.  This is the case because it now makes it much easier for Android subscribers to dial in to the podcast using native apps.  Previously it was sometimes necessary to install additional apps to access the Apple-based iTunes podcasts because of course the iPhone devices favor iTunes; whereas Google Play is favored by Android.

At the time of writing this article, the WCoC podcasts have had over 2,300 hits.  These have been largely in the US, but we have also seen high numbers of hits in some surprising countries including Japan (see previous article) and more recently a growing following in the Netherlands.

We hope that by adding Google Play as a new way to access our podcasts, we will continue to increase our listener base around the globe.

It is fascinating how this new era of internet technology has opened up new and powerful ways to share the word of God and the love of Christ Jesus.  Now Bob’s teachings can reach new brothers and sisters who may not otherwise have regular access to such high caliber sermons as delivered each week by our dear Minister Bob Kolodner.  We are so blessed to have him as our Minister and to have regular access to his wonderful teaching and guidance.

Young Professionals B&B – 3 Saturdays a month

Beth Moore Simulcast – Saturday, September 15, 2018

Ladies, this is a wonderful opportunity to hear an inspirational speaker and learn from God’s word.

You are invited to a Beth Moore Simulcast bible study: Living Proof on September 15, 2018 from 10:30 A.M. – 5:15 P.M. at Fauquier Hospital in the Sycamore Room, hosted by the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. Give Maureen your feedback.

About Beth Moore

Beth founded Living Proof Ministries in 1994 with the purpose of teaching women how to love and live on God’s Word. She has written numerous books and Bible studies that have been read by women of all ages, races, and denominations. Through the years, American missionaries and expatriates have taken the Bible studies overseas, resulting in Beth Moore Bible study groups popping up all over the world. Beth’s Living Proof Live conferences have taken her to all fifty states since 1994. God has graciously given Beth the opportunity to serve the body of Christ in many different countries, including Ireland, England, Singapore, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, India, Angola, Kenya, and South Africa. As well as the opportunity to guest teach Bible study on the television program “Life Today with James and Betty Robison.” With great joy, she began a radio ministry in 2004 called Living Proof with Beth Moore hosted on OnePlace.com. Financial Peace University – January Class Postponed

Unfortunately we are postponing the January 21st offering of Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University until spring.

This decision was made due to such low interest at this time.

There is a signup sheet on the table at the back of the WCoC auditorium for anyone who is interested in attending the class in the spring.  Once we have a few people signed up we will go ahead and schedule a class.  So if you are wishing to attend this wonderful class about handling money God’s way, please be sure to sign up on that sheet: we would love to run another class and share this amazingly simple and practical method for taking control of yours, your children and even your grandchildren’s future.

You can also email Neil Smith to register your interest in attending Financial Peace University in the spring.

Financial Peace is Coming to WCOC – September 10th

DaveRamsey_PhotoYes indeed folks, Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University course is coming again to the WCoC.  This is a nine week course that teaches you how to save money, get out of debt permanently, grow your financial strength, plan for the future, plan for a dignified retirement, grow wealthy over the course of your life and give like no one else.  In short you will learn how to handle money the way God intended, using principles that have been taken directly from scripture.

This class is for anyone and everyone.  You don’t have to be broke or in debt to get something life changing from this class.  No, you just need a desire to live a better life with less stress over money.  Ask your brothers and sisters in the church who have already been through the class.

To register is easy.  Just email the church office and let them know you will be attending.  The cost of the course is $102 per family.  This includes your lifetime membership to the university, and the cost of the membership kit.  You can order your kit directly from the Dave Ramsey web site, but we recommend you simply make a check out to the church for $102.30 and we’ll do the rest for you.

Warrenton Christian Preschool Playground Fundraiser

image2Preschool News – Warrenton Christian Preschool Playground is in need of a little TLC.

It’s looking a little sad don’t you think as it’s been some years since the special mulch was last blown in.  The sun and the rain have baked and washed out the mulch and it’s time to renew.  And it’s not just an aesthetics issue either.  No – it’s actually a safety issue for our little ones.

image1And because its a safety and regulations thing – we can’t just run down to our local big box hardware store and purchase any old mulch.  It has to be a special type of mulch for this application.  It has to be devoid of certain chemicals and toxins, has to be of a certain consistency and be laid at a certain depth.  Hence the high cost of replacement – $740.

Therefore we are announcing our WCOC Warrenton Christian Preschool Fundraiser on GoFundMe.com.  Click the following link to make a donation to the Playground fund – the little ones and the teachers will be so grateful for any help you can provide.

Many thanks and God bless.

Financial Peace is nearly upon us

DaveRamsey_PhotoYes folks, Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University is nearly upon us, but there is still time to sign up on the Dave Ramsey web site and get your membership kits delivered before the class starts.  So if you’re planning to join us on March 19th, please sign up as soon as you can.

Financial Peace University is a bible based 9 week course that teaches you how to handle money God’s way.  Using a series of seven ‘Baby Steps’ it takes you from saving, to paying off debt, building wealth for retirement, investing and being able to give generously along the way.  As we already know, everything belongs to God, including our money.  Financial peace teaches us how to be better stewards of God’s money and how to prosper and help others along the way.

As Dave says, “this changes everything”, and it’s so very true.  Just ask anyone who has been through Financial Peace and applied the principals it teaches. It costs $102.30 to buy your membership kit and have it shipped from the Ramsey Solutions HQ in Nashville, TN.  If you need a little  financial help, some of your Brothers and Sisters at this church have shown their love by pledging money for partial and full scholarships.  Contact Nancy or Fran at the Church office to get on the scholarship list.  At this time there are still some scholarships available: but we need to know all those who need help before 3/12/2017 or we will not have time to get your kit ordered before class starts. So hurry to avoid disappointment.

WCOC Offers Financial Peace University (FPU)

FPU_LogoFinancial Peace for Everyone

We are proud and blessed to announce that starting Sunday March 19th, 2017 at 2:30 pm, Warrenton Church of Christ is hosting the opportunity for members of the community to attend Financial Peace University: a 9 week course that teaches us how to take control of our finances, get out of debt and build wealth for retirement through saving and investing strategies.

DaveRamsey_Photo

Created by best-selling Christian author and radio show host Dave Ramsey (left), FPU has a proven and tested track record for helping families regain control of their finances using bible-based principles.  Over 4 million people have already attended FPU nationwide.

On average, families who attend pay off $5,300 in debt and save $2,700 in the first 90 days after starting the course.

This course is no gimmick either: no special secrets, just common sense steps that your Grandmother probably told you about.

This course will be hosted by our very own Neil Smith, who along with his wife Crystal, has been living the principles of Financial Peace for the last 3+ years.

“The information we have learned from Dave Ramsey has allowed us to get out of debt, save for the future, start investing and increased our ability to give more generously.  We can tell you first hand that when you start living how God wants you to, good things start to happen.  We are both very excited to offer this course and to share this invaluable information with our church family and our community at large.”

If you’re interested in attending this course, or know someone who might benefit from a financial makeover, please go to the Financial Peace University link on this church web site home page, or click here to go to Dave Ramsey’s web site and sign up.  It costs $93 per family, or if you can’t attend FPU with a group, there’s an online option for $129.

To learn more we also recommend you subscribe to the Dave Ramsey Show podcast and listen to his daily radio broadcasts.  There you will here from people who have achieved amazing things and become debt free using the principles Dave teaches.

There will be a preview of the course about three weeks before the class actually starts.  We’ll post more details and announce this at the church when the preview date is set.

Mats for Homeless – Wednesday 28th September

screenshot-2016-09-25-20-11-29This Wednesday at 7:00 PM – be in the Fellowship hall to learn how to make mats for the homeless – out of used grocery bags.

Yes that’s right; that mat Bob is holding is actually made from dozens of cleverly woven used grocery bags.  No kidding.

So go to that drawer you have in the kitchen that is positively bursting with used grocery bags, and gather them up, along with your scissors, cutting wheels or whatever you’ve got and come on down. You’ll have fun learning how to make a mat that will protect a homeless person from the the harsh, cold ground this winter.  As Bob says, we may not be able to do everything for the homeless, but we can do something – and this is certainly something.

See you there Brothers and Sisters.
